Weight of Cereal
The average weight of a manufactured box of cereal is around 500 grams or 17.637 ounces, with a margin of error of around 28.3495 grams or 1.0 ounce. Not all cereals are the same size so this is simply the average size of a standard box of cereal. However, it's important to remember brands change the weight of the sizes all the time. So a family size of cereal may weigh 21 oz today and 18 oz tomorrow.
To make matters even more confusing sometimes the same brand and size of cereal will weigh differently at one store vs another at the same time!

Cheapest Box Of Cereal By Weight?
The easiest way to figure out which box of cereal is the cheapest by weight is to divide the price by the number of ounces in the box. For example today the price for a family-size box of Cheerios is $3.64 at Walmart. Walmarts current family size box also weighs 18 oz.
$3.64 ÷ 18 = 0.202
(This means your paying roughly 20 cents per ounce of Cheerios.)
The price for a family-size box of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes is also $3.64 at Walmart. However, this family-size box weighs 24 oz.
$3.64 ÷ 24 = 0.151
(This means your paying roughly 15 cents per ounce of Frosted Flakes.)
If you do the math Kellogg's Frosted Flakes is 5 cents cheaper per ounce than Cheerios.
